Rental Cars are a big decision when planing a trip to Vegas. So you come to Las Vegas, and first thing you notice is that the city is way too huge to cover on foot, and right from the start you start wishing your car was there with you. Non need to despair though, as the Vegas Car Rental business is forever growing and has very tight competition, meaning that you can find a match for every wallet and desire. Though trends have changed and unlike the earlier times when you could rent a car at a counter right at the airport, you’ll have to go a bit away from the strip to get a better deal. But walking is good, right? But the choice itself is the problem. Obviously, first you have to determine the budget. You can easily rent an economy class little bug for under $30 per day or $120 a week. By economy class, I mean all the little compacts and half-cars that tend to become more and more popular in big cities. If you’re on a tight budget, this is definitely your choice. But make no mistake, while these cars are considered 4 or 5-seaters, usually it will only fit you, your wife and (mostly) her stuff.

Although who goes to Vegas with his wife? You usually leave with one. So you’re probably the type with lots of friends looking for good times. The best (and totally American) way to go is with a midsize or a full-blown SUV. This will be ideal both for hitting the casinos and packing up girls in the car, and once you’ve married them it’s not a problem to pack up and go see the Hoover dam. The best thing is though that SUVs aren’t that expensive, so if you’re paying $30 per day for a compact, add less than a half of that money and you’ve got a more than a half advantage. For $50 per day you can pack up all your gear and have 5 people sitting in comfort (or 7 total with 2 guys and 3 girls in the back). Add a bit more and you can easily get a 7 seater. Fuel consumption might be an issue between the 2 classes though, but come on – you’re in Vegas! Fortunately though, if you can afford the SUV category, you’re ok with pretty much everything else. It’s funny how due to competition, even a couple of dollar can make a difference between a midclass and a luxury sedan. It is that much of a difference, same applies for other classes, such as mini vans, convertibles and sports cars.

While it may seem like couple of bucks, you’ll feel the real difference with fuel consumption. Don’t forget that when renting a car in Las Vegas. And remember, it’s always better to drive to your motel in comfort after you’ve lost all your money – or it would make you even more depressed.
